Guido’s Italian Ristorante and Pizza Cafe is located on Forest Oaks Boulevard almost to US 19 in the shopping center on the north side of the road. The have a large seating area and can handle good sized groups.
Guido’s is run by William H. Wells and his family has been in the restaurant business for three generations. His grandfather, Domenick, and his brothers moved from Consenza, Italy to Racine, Wisconsin, where they opened the Wells Brothers Restaurant, which is still there today. His father started at the Wells Brothers before opening his own restaurant. He has a number of restaurants named Guido’s, the family’s original last name. He eventually opened Guido’s in Spring Hill in 1984 with his son.
Guido’s has a Chicago style thin crust pizza. The crust is light, flaky, and cracker thin. We tried the “Guido” special which had pepperoni, sausage, onion, mushroom, green peppers, black olives, tomatoes, anchovies, and mozzarella.
We asked for anchovies on the side. The pizza is cut into square smaller sized pieces, since it is too thin to support a full sized slice. This was a hit with the kids, they polished off most a large pizza.
They are open 11am to 9:30pm Monday through Saturday and Sunday 12pm to 9pm. They are located at 7219 Forest Oaks Blvd, Spring Hill. You can call them a (352) 688-1018.
