Love Refuses to Keep Score

“Love …. does not take into account a wrong suffered.” …I Corinthians 13: 4-5 (NASB)

Have you ever been hurt or wronged by someone?

What a question.

We all have been disappointed and hurt by the mistakes of others.

And so has God.

Sometimes that is weird to think, but God has feelings too. He too feels hurt when we make mistakes.

But God is so loving, and is so good, and is so merciful, and is so quick to forgive.

When we make a mistake and hurt God’s feelings, all He asks of us is true repentance… a true apology… and all will be forgiven.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9 KJV)

When you come to Him to ask forgiveness for those mistakes, God won’t keep a scoresheet of all that you have done wrong. In fact, He will never bring up those mistakes again. He won’t throw them in your face or hold it over your head for a later time “to get even”. He chooses to not remember your mistakes anymore.

How wonderful it is to have such love and absolute forgiveness available to us.

God loves us and wants a relationship with us so much that He takes our messed-up lives and blunders and absolutely forgives us, and in return gives us a new, fresh, clean slate to start over.

God wants a relationship with you to help and empower you for a good life, not to beat you down and hold your past mistakes over your head.

Come to God with your mistakes. He already knows about them. He’s just waiting for your apology.

God doesn’t want barriers in between you and Him. He wants to remove those barriers that would keep you apart from Him. He wants a close relationship with you… today.
