I like to try restaurants that are unassuming from the road. My Nanny’s Restaurant fits that requirement. It is located on the west side of US-19, across the road and a little north from Golden Corral.
They have been open for 7 years. The food is a great value. You can get a hamburger for under five dollars. They serve Greek and American diner fare.
They have a number of healthy options on the menu including a grilled zucchini sandwich, eggplant and salads. However, it was the Philly Cheese steak that drew my attention. The restaurant placemat stated that they only cook in olive oil and listed a number of herbs they use with each herb's health benefits.
My Nanny’s Restaurant knows many of the customers by name. When Joe walked in, he was greeted with “Hello Joe” from the kitchen. The customers are mostly retirees and they have a number of early bird specials on the menu.
The cheesesteak was recommended by the waitress and she did not steer me wrong. Their cheesesteak came on a roll that was about 8 inches long and filled with steak, peppers, onions, and an excellent cheese sauce. I substituted the fries for onion rings.
My Nanny’s Restaurant is open Sunday through Tuesday from 7 AM to 2 PM. They are closed on Wednesday and Thursday through Saturday they are open from 7 AM to 8 PM. You can call them at (352) 835-7172 or find them on Facebook. If you have a GPS they are located 5323 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, FL.
