Hernando County's Environmentally Sensitive Lands (ESL) areas thrive due to the aid of volunteers. This will be Jim King's last day with Hernando County. Volunteers will meet Mike Singer, newly named Conservation Land Manager for Hernando County.
Following a brief talk about the Preserve and the needed work, volunteers will assist in clearing the educational hiking trail and mark the existing portion. Work will be completed by noon. An optional guided nature walk will be offered following completion of work. Volunteers should wear long pants and sturdy shoes with closed toes. Please bring gloves, eye protection, insect repellent, sunscreen, and drinking water. Useful tools to bring include cultivating rakes and hoes, trimmers and loppers, and five gallon buckets for collecting small items. Free, but please RSVP if you plan to assist. For more information, contact Jim King at JKing@hernandocounty.us; phone 352-754-4057, Ext. 28020 or visit www.hernandocounty.us.
