Bomb threat at Hernando County Courthouse

Nov. 7, 2017- About one hour into the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners regularly scheduled meeting, Chairman Wayne Dukes interrupted Assistant County Administrator Ron Pianta during his presentation, stating that they needed to evacuate the building due to a bomb threat. The Hernando County Sheriff's Office was notified of the threat directly at 10:04AM. The evacuation is ongoing. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

UPDATE 1PM: Activities at the courthouse resumed as normal around noon, after the Sheriff's Office searched the interior and exterior of the building. At 12:22PM HCSO received a second bomb threat notification and the building was evacuated again. County Commissioners approved the transfer of the rest of the meeting agenda to the next regularly scheduled meeting on Nov. 14, 2017 before they evacuated the building.

Captain Hankins of the Brooksville PD, stated that the first bomb threat was called into an employee at the Courthouse.
