The Jersey Cafe is located in the Western Way Shopping Center on Cortez Boulevard just west of Mariner Boulevard. Reading the online reviews for the Jersey Cafe, they receive praise for their hamburgers.
The owners Joe and Valerie Cuce bought the restaurant in 1984 and have run it for 33 years. They offer a large menu with many options, however the breakfast, lunch, and dinner are only served at specific times.
I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger platter cooked medium rare. I asked for it all the way which was lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, and mayonnaise. That may have been a mistake, since this made the burger almost too tall to fit in my mouth.
There was good flavor in the meat and the toppings were fresh.
The reviews did not steer me wrong- they make a good burger. The burger platter came with french fries and coleslaw.
They have coffee, fountain drinks, iced tea, hot chocolate, milk and juice. They also offer New York Egg Cream which has neither egg nor cream. They make "thick shakes" with real ice cream which can be made into a malt. The have several options for dessert: homemade brownies, rice pudding, cheese cake, pie, and ice cream.
Monday through Friday they serve breakfast from 7am to 11:30am, lunch from 11am to 8pm and dinner from 3pm to 8pm.
On Saturday and Sunday, breakfast is served from 7am to 2pm; lunch is served 11am to 8am; and dinner served from 3pm to 8pm.
