Mark Anthony's Pizza recently won the “Neighbors Best Pizza Tasting Contest” at Marker 48. There were more than 10 locally owned small pizza places who each provided two pizzas for the taste testers. Mark Anthony's was selected as the best.
We had not tried their pizza before so we headed out to their location on Mariner Boulevard just north of Spring Hill Drive (on the West side of Mariner Boulevard) to try them out. The restaurant has limited seating so we called in a pickup order.
We ordered their Grandma's pizza and their Sicilian. Reading the reviews online, these were often mentioned as the pizzas you had to try out. We also tried their Greek salad as that was another favorite. It came with lots of feta, tomatoes, and sliced black olives. A traditional Sicilian pizza has thick crust and Mark Anthony's was over an inch thick and covered with a sauce that was slightly sweet. The Grandmother's pizza has a pan crust and has the same sauce. Both of the pizza's were square.
We had a quick conversation with the owner and he was very happy to see the restaurant finally being recognized. Mark Anthony’s Pizza has been around since 2001.
