In Ridge Manor on the corner of State Road 50 and 301 sits a culinary gem called Southern Harmony Cafe. It is a true family restaurant that fuses Cracker and Cajun cuisine. The family works together in the kitchen, at the counter and serving. They have been open a little over a year.
The restaurant is cozy there are seven tables. They do have some additional seating at the counter. There can be a wait and they don't take reservations.
For the Special Seafood Sampler we chose shrimp, gator, and grouper. For the shrimp and grouper, we went with the grilled option and they were moist and firm. The alligator was an extra and came breaded. It also came with two sides, we chose collards and onion rings.
Fried Green Tomatoes were breaded with a homemade mixture and crispy golden brown. Hamburger was juicy and came with french fries.
We ordered the crawfish Boudin which is a sausage stuffed with a soft and tasty rice and crawfish mixture. It was a first for all of us and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Desserts offered include Beignets, Bourbon Banana Pudding, and Blue Bayou Pie.
We rarely order dessert when we go out to eat, but we had to try their beignets. Since there are six of us, our server recommended we order “mini beignets.”
Normally they serve four larger sized beignets, but if you have a bigger party make sure to request the minis, which were scrumptious and quite numerous.
Several drink options are offered including swamp pop, fountain drinks, and sweet tea. They also grind their own coffee. Their specialty is a pecan and praline coffee.
