8 juveniles attempt to escape from Eckerd Youth Program

On December 10, 8 juvenile males were arrested after attempting to escape the Eckerd Kids property. The Eckerd Kids program is a residential program for youth with substance abuse related issues who are in the juvenile justice system.

The males between the ages of 14 and 16 made it to the woods near the facility and may have still been on the Eckerd property before being apprehended. Some of the youth attempting escape returned willingly. It is not clear from reports whether they were all part of the same assigned areas or different assigned areas.

Defendant argued with victim over the phone and she hung up on him. A short time later he showed up at he residence. He then began pushing her with both hands. The defendant than walked outside and the victim followed him. He hit her in the face and pushed her to the ground. While she was on the ground the defendant scratched her on the right side of her neck.

Detectives apprehend suspect involved in two burglaries

On November 27, 2016, after 11PM the 7-11 at 6016 Spring Hill Drive was robbed by a white man with tattoos on his neck. The clerk was able to give a detailed description and he was also caught on video surveillance cameras. The description of the man and photo from the video surveillance was put on social media and a tipster called to tell the Sheriff's Office that the man resembled Jonathan Bizuk, who resides at 1252 Garrett Avenue in Spring Hill.

Home health care worker steals credit card and jewelry from client

Hernando County Sheriff's detectives met with Beth Stocke at the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Ms. Stocke reported to detectives that she was assigned a home health care worker to help care for her mother through Mid-Florida Federal, a program from Candid Care. Ms. Stock advised the health care worker that came to care for her mother identified herself as "Shay Pizarro" and provided a copy of a Florida driver's license as proof of identification. The name on the driver's license was "Sheila Mari Pizarro" with an address in Spring Hill.

Spring Hill Pest Control Technician Arrested on Theft Charges

On 11-15-16, a Brooksville resident reported to authorities that an unknown person had made entry into his home on Appalachian Drive and stolen thousands of dollars of jewelry and an Apple MacBook.

The victim told deputies that he had received a call earlier in the day from a technician at Tropicare Pest Control. The technician, Jorge Garcia, H/M DOB/7-20-90, had called requesting permission to enter a screened area of the home while no one was home. The victim said he denied the request.

Detectives Bust Meth Lab in Retirement Community

On 12-03-16, detectives with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Vice and Narcotics Unit responded to a residence on Deercroft Court in Spring Hill in reference to a methamphetamine lab. Initially, patrol deputies responded to the residence, which is located in the Wellington subdivision after receiving a tip that a meth lab may be located within the residence. Deputies made contact with the homeowner and were allowed entry to check for a possible lab. It is worth noting that there were two young children in the home.

HCSO Alert: Vice and Narcotics Unit Scores a Trifecta with Three Successful Search Warrants

Over the past week, detectives with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Vice and Narcotics Unit executed three residential search warrants within Hernando County.

The search warrants were the result of lengthy investigations where undercover operatives were able to purchase narcotics from individuals in each of the residences. Detectives were made aware of illegal drug activity at each residence after neighborhood complaints were received by the Sheriff's Office.
