From the Sheriff's Office: Detectives Conducting Death Investigation in Eastern Hernando County

At this time, Hernando County detectives are conducting a death investigation, wherein foul play is suspected. The location is in the Richloam Forest in eastern Hernando County.

The investigation is on-going and fluid, therefore details will be minimal at this time.

Ongoing efforts continue to positively identify the victim.

In addition to attempting to identify the deceased, detectives have been tirelessly following leads in an effort to determine what occurred and ensure justice is served.

Thousands of Dollars in Stolen Electricity Leads to Three Search Warrants

JUNE 22- Thousands of dollars in stolen electricity kept Hernando County Vice and Narcotics detectives busy with three separate search warrants over a 13 day period.

Working closely with representatives from Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative (WREC), detectives identified that in each case, power was being diverted (stolen), resulting in the execution of the search warrants.

The first search warrant was executed at 18303 Macek Road in Brooksville (Royal Highlands) on 06-08-16 at 9:30 a.m.

From Sheriff's Office: Search Warrant - 11404 Pike Avenue

Jonathan Huff

On 05-25-16, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Vice and Narcotics Unit raided the home of local gang member, Jonathan Huff, who lives at 11404 Pike Avenue in Spring Hill. Huff is a self-proclaimed member of the Folk Nation, and was rising to the level of "treasurer" in his gang, prior to being arrested on numerous drug charges. Huff, who is a convicted felon, is no stranger to interactions with deputy sheriffs. In 2013, Huff was arrested for Possession with Intent to Distribute Oxycodone. He was arrested again in 2014 for Trafficking in Hydromorphone.

Search Warrant - 25318 Ash Street

On 04-22-16, detectives with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Vice and Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant on an active marijuana grow operation located at 25318 Ash Street in Brooksville.

The search warrant was the result of a lengthy investigation where undercover Vice and Narcotics detectives received information from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office that the Ash Street residence was linked to their Operation named "Hydro Hustlers."

Search Warrant - 12156 Monarco Lane

On 04-21-16, detectives with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Vice and Narcotics Unit, along with members of the SWAT team, executed a search warrant at 12156 Monarco Lane in Spring Hill, the residence of Paul Bodisch.

The search warrant was the result of a lengthy investigation where undercover Vice and Narcotics detectives were able to purchase controlled substances from Bodisch on several occasions.

Arrest Made In Home Invasion Robbery

On 04-13-2016 at approximately 6 a.m., Hernando County deputies were dispatched to a Home Invasion Robbery at 4456 Mariner Boulevard in Spring Hill.

The victim, David Acebey, advised deputies that shortly after his girlfriend left for work he was awakened with a flashlight and a gun being pointied at his head. He immediately identified the suspect as a former roommate, Carl Harris, as Harris did not have his face concealed.

On 03-30-16, the victim, 87-year-old Lynne Tresness, was walking back to his residence from his shed when he observed a white male in his yard near his back door. The male said that his mother's car had broken down in the Croom Forest and asked Tresness for a ride. The male also asked Tresness for a drink of water.

Tresness took the male inside for a glass of water then the two left Tresness' residence on Thackeray Street in Nobleton to head to the Croom Forest. Tresness was driving his 2003 gold Buick LeSabre; the male, who never provided a name, rode in the passenger seat.

Shooting in South Brooksville

A shooting occurred around 10:30 am on March 16 at the corner of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Twigg Street. A male caller who had been shot notified the 9-1-1 dispatcher at 10:32 a.m.

The victim was uncooperative with law enforcement when they arrived, but was air lifted to a local trauma center. According to the Sheriff's Office his injuries are currently considered non-life threatening. Detectives are in the area investigating the incident and are trying to identify any witnesses.

Stabbing Victim Discovered at Crash Scene, Person of Interest Apprehended

In the wee hours of the morning detectives discovered a victim of a stabbing when they responded to a traffic crash in the area of Spring Hill Drive and Pond Circle. The victim's injuries were not life threatening.

The "Person of Interest" Ian Michael Brunker in this case was apprehended by police this afternoon without incident at a residence in Spring Hill. Brunker is wanted in an unrelated warrant for his arrest.

Donna Sumners six months before her disappearance

Twenty-two years ago, Donna Sumners disappeared from the Candleglow apartments in Brooksville. Now that both of her parents have passed away without finding closure, Donna's family is offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts.

Donna grew up in Heflin, Alabama where her sister Deborah Bright still resides. Donna met her husband Monroe Sumners while attending high school in Heflin. The two married and had a son. Monroe Sumners joined the Army and served in the Persian Gulf War. After his deployment, he worked as an Army Recruiter in Brooksville.
