With summer coming to a close and school back in session, the Dixie Baseball All-Stars season has also wrapped up.
The Spring Hill American White AAA Minors (age 9-10) squad was largely comprised of players who won a World Series as AA Rookies (age 7-8) two years ago. They came close to adding another World Series crown to their resumes, finishing second in this year’s AAA Minors World Series in Oxford, Ala., taking place Aug. 5-10.

Roughly 34 miles separate the home fields of the Spring Hill and South Sumter Dixie Baseball Leagues.
Yet teams from those two organizations found themselves up in the Panhandle on Wednesday, playing in the final of the AAA Minors (age 9-10) All-Stars State Tournament at the MERE Complex in Marianna.

Spring Hill National didn’t return home with a championship trophy after traveling to Sebring for the Dixie Baseball AAA Minors (age 9-10) All-Stars State Tournament. But the local squad still represented itself well on the big stage.
A 3-2 run through the tournament ended with an 8-3 loss to host Sebring on Wednesday, one game away from a rematch with District 6 rival Bushnell American.

Spring Hill reaches states in Minors

With a chance to automatically advance to the state tournament on the line, the Spring Hill National AAA Minors (age 9-10) All-Stars came up with a clutch victory on Thursday.
SH National trounced San Antonio, 15-2, on the final day of the District 6 Tournament held at Kenny Dixon Sports Complex in Bushnell, assuring a trip to states, which begins July 16 in Sebring.
“The kids came to play,” SH National head coach Larry Marsh said. “They were all excited when we told them they were playing for runner-up.”
