Elena Sheppa talks with group from Melborne before going on the tour.

Just over the Withlacoochee River on 98-301 heading to Dade City on Mickler Road is a ranch that started out with cattle, but now specializes in species a bit more exotic.

On the 46 acre property, giraffe, zebras and ostriches roam freely in an area that mimics their natural habitat.  Visitors can choose to view the ranch by Safari Truck, Segway or even by Camel.

Our state has some of the most beautiful and diverse places to visit. You can travel from one end to the other and feel like you have been completed transported to another part of the country.

My family and I love to camp, but we are fairly new to it. Since owning our camper, we have visited 3 beautiful locations in the great Sunshine State.

Mural Tour: Saturday Stroll

Saturday stroll mural was sponsored by James and Anna Covell, and designed and painted by Maurea Sleesman.

As you may have seen in our previous issue, during Brooksville’s Founders Week to celebrate the 160th Anniversary of the town, a number of wonderful events took place, including the Historic Mural Tour, which was led by Susan Rupe.

After we viewed the murals which depict the fire and police departments, the next mural on the tour Saturday Stroll painted in 2001, located on the A.L. Covell building at East Liberty Street and South Brooksville Ave. The mural was sponsored by James and Anna Covell, and designed and painted by Maurea Sleesman.

Volkswagens from every era could be seen driving on Interstate 75 heading to the Pasco
County Fairgrounds this weekend for the 28th Annual Florida Bug Jam.
Throughout the years, there has been a theme to go along with the Florida Bug Jam. For instance, back in 2014 it was the Blues Brothers; 2015 was Star Wars; and this year the theme is comic books.
“It’s been tradition since the original bug jam, they always had different themes,” Randy Yoho, Promoter for the Bug Jam said.

Goats are just some of the farm animals at Golden Rainbow Ranch kids can interact with.

For the Baylors life wasn’t always surrounded by chickens and goats.  For over 16 years they lived a life of pressure and survival.

Life for both Ali and David Baylor, formerly middle school teachers, had been filling up with obligations, deadlines and stress. A year after they met, David was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor.
