Dirt Pudding

1 15oz pkg. Oreo cookies
2 pkg. Instant chocolate pudding
4 cups milk
8 oz. Cream cheese (room temperature)
¼ cup butter (room temperature)
1 cup powdered sugar
1 8 oz. Cool whip
Gummy worms or choice of toppings


Choice of fine or course crushed Oreo cookies  (set aside) Large bowl: mix both packages of pudding mix with milk. In another bowl beat together the cream cheese and butter on medium speed until fluffy. Est time 3 minutes.

Syrup Cake

1 cup shortening
1 ¼ cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup karo syrup (dark)
½ cup coffee
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
3 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp allspice
1 tsp ginger
½ tsp salt
bundt pan
you could also add can of your favorite fruit filling, this should make you 2 cakes.

Spray pam in your bundt pan

Cream your first 5 ingredients from list, once that is done then you could add the remaining ingredients.

Potato Pancakes 
(with Fried Eggs)

(Serves 4)

2 cups packed with mashed potatoes
5 eggs
1⁄2 cup flour
2 tbsp Chives
2 tbsp bread crumbs
olive oil
shredded cheese

Potato Pancakes
Mix in medium size bowl. Mashed potatoes, 1 egg, flour, chives, bread crumbs. Add salt/pepper to taste. Mix well and form into patties. Put small amount of olive oil into frying pan, heat up once hot enough put in your patties. Cook on each side 3-5 minutes or until browned.

Deputies and their K-9 partners take to the springs

The Annual Law Enforcement K-9 Water Training event took place at Weeki Wachee Springs, Buccaneer Bay on Tuesday Aug. 22, 2017.

After the park closes, here they come. Sheriff’s Deputies with their K-9 partners arrive at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park/ Buccaneer Bay to have some fun and gain critical skills on Tuesday Aug. 22, 2017. Law enforcement teams from Hernando as well as surrounding counties participate each year. On Tuesday, 20 to 25 handlers and their K-9 partners participated in the training exercises.

Local Hernando High Football Coach Debuts Family Sports Bar & Grill

On July 7, 2017, a local high school football coach opened Kaz's Family Sports Bar & Grill in downtown Brooksville, 4 N. Broad St. Brooksville, Fla 34601, right across from the courthouse.  

Owner Robert Kazmier is known as ‘Coach Kaz' to the community &  Hernando High School athletes. Coach Kaz said he sees endless opportunity in Downtown Brooksville. “It has so much charm and history.  Once support increases and our community sees what is possible here, I envision this place flourishing and becoming a truly special location for commerce and gatherings,” he said.  

Hernando County teen critically injured in rollover accident

On Dec. 29, 2016, JT (Joseph Trafford) was involved in a single vehicle rollover accident on Mondon Hill Road and Atlantis Lane in Brooksville, Fla. No other vehicles or persons were involved. JT had veered off the road into wet grass and lost control of his F150 truck. He tried to correct his truck but was unable to. He hit a couple of mailboxes and then hit the concrete culvert and that is what sent his truck into a rolling motion. JT was ejected from his truck right into the path of his rolling vehicle.
