Just about an hour west of Tallahassee in the town of Marianna, a gem to explore can be found. This rare find in the state is called the Florida Caverns. The area, once completely under water thousands and thousands of years ago, is worth the trip. The tours last about 45 minutes and the cavern itself is about half a mile.
On a hot Florida day, it is the ideal place to be. The temperature stays a nice 65 degrees all the time. The cavern was discovered at the height of the Great Depression in the 1930’s, and provided a great job for anyone willing to help dig.
