Coming off a recent hot streak, Brandon Brosher only got into two games for the Single-A Columbia Fireflies this past week.

Former first-round draft pick Christian Arroyo was sent down to the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats earlier this month, as the Giants hoped to get the 22-year-old more regular playing time.

Local baseball fans were abuzz early this Major League season when the San Francisco Giants called up Hernando High alum Christian Arroyo.
One of the first people to learn about Arroyo’s promotion was one of his best friends, an offseason roommate, former teammate and a fellow 2013 graduate. Oh, and he’s also another professional ballplayer.

Brandon Lawson anticipated he’d experience one of his best moments this weekend. It just came a day later than he had hoped.
On Saturday, the third day of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, the 2013 Hernando High graduate and USF junior was chosen by the Tampa Bay Rays with the 14th pick of the 12th round, 360th overall.
