BROOKSVILLE – Starting February 3rd, and continuing throughout the month of February, Hernando County Schools will be delivering new HP ProBook laptops to every teacher in the district and will also be upgrading student computer lab stations in most schools. This ambitious upgrade will bring much needed computer hardware to schools using funds from the Digital Classroom Plan as well as monies from district capital funds.

Coordinating this large-scale upgrade involves quite a few critical stages, steady communication and expert collaboration. District Director of Technology Information Systems, Joe Amato, is undaunted by the scope of the project and is excited to finally see the devices begin arriving at schools. “We have tried to make the roll out as seamless and efficient as we possibly could. Our teachers have been incredibly patient and understanding and we want to get these computers to them as soon as possible,” Amato said.

The goal is to have all 2500 computers distributed to all 23 schools and in the hands of staff and into student stations by the end of February. “These new computers will certainly go a long way toward getting us closer to the goal of a one-to-one ‘device to student’ ratio that the state expects,” Amato said.
