One of Brooksville’s own attended the Orange Blossom Miniature Horse Club show at the Ocala Livestock Pavilion on Saturday, June 9, 2018.

Kelsey Painter a Hernando High School Sophomore and her horse Ziggy placed first in Western Country Pleasure Driving in the Open, and Youth classes, and came home with two Stakes Champion ribbons.

Ziggy (show name Ozark Mtn White Time Raven) is a 2017 Pinto World Champion halter horse, who Kelsey has broken to drive a cart in the last 9 months. While training her horse, Kelsey has also maintained straight A’s in honors classes at Hernando High School as a freshman, and we expect her Sophomore year to continue this path.

Kelsey also earned her invitation to the AMHR National Show in Tulsa, OK this coming September, where she will compete amongst her peers.

Her work ethic with her horses, is amazing as she does show a loving bond with each of them, and wakes up early during the school year to feed and water them.

Her parents are extremely proud of her, because win or lose, she always maintains a happy go lucky attitude and does this out of pure love for her horses and the bond she creates with them.
