(Nobleton, FL) On Thursday, July 26 at 7:44 a.m., Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) responded to reports of a residential structure fire at 29070 Forbes Street. Neighbors called 911 reporting that a home was engulfed in fire with flames coming from the windows and roof. Initial reports also reported that the home was vacant.
HCFR units arrived to find a single-story wood structure fully involved in fire. Due to the extent of the fire and the untenability of the structure, fire crews initiated defensive operations to keep the fire from spreading. The fire was brought under control and fire crews verified that no one was in the structure.
Initial investigations could not determine the cause of the fire, therefore a fire investigator from the Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations was called out to the scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
HCFR responded with 2 fire engines, 1 water tender, 3 rescues, 2 Battalion Chiefs and the Division Chief of Operations for a total of 15 personnel. Mutual Aid was provided by the City of Brooksville Fire Department with a District Chief and Sumter County Fire Rescue responded with 1 fire engine and 1 water tender.
No injuries were reported to citizens or first responders at this incident.
