On 08-28-18 at approximately 10:20 p.m., deputies responded to Lake in the Woods Drive in Spring Hill in reference to a report of suspicious persons near the Lake in the Woods tennis courts.
Dispatchers were advised there were two vehicles in the area and that the caller had just witnessed a possible drug deal go down.
When deputies arrived on scene, they were able to locate one of the suspicious vehicles.
A lieutenant pulled his vehicle up alongside the suspicious vehicle so he could speak to the driver.
He asked the driver, Mbacke Leye B/M DOB/09-01-1990, and his passenger, if they lived in the neighborhood. The passenger advised he lived in the neighborhood.
As the lieutenant walked toward the vehicle he noticed Leye attempting to conceal an unknown item in his hand, underneath the seat.
The lieutenant also noticed a green leafy substance on the driver lap, which later tested positive for marijuana.
The lieutenant ordered the driver to show his hand at which time he displayed an open beer can.
During questioning, Leye told deputies he has just smoked marijuana and that there was more in the trunk.
He also told deputies there was a gun under the driver’s seat. In the trunk, deputies located a backpack with two large bags of marijuana with a total weight of 476 grams. Deputies also located numerous vials of a gold-color liquid, which later tested positive for THC.
Leye was arrested on charges of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Hashish, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
His bond was set at $27,000.
