Original Information – 12-14-18
On 12-13-18 at 6:59 a.m., Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Circle K gas station located at 14195 Elgin Blvd., in reference to a shooting that had just occurred.

While deputies arrived on scene less than a minute after the first 911 call, both the suspect and the victim had already left the scene.

Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot come from the fuel pump area and then seeing a man enter a white car and flee the area heading west on Elgin Boulevard.

They also observed a second man get into a black SUV and drive around the fuel pumps before stopping. The witnesses said they could see the driver of the SUV had been shot.

The driver, later identified as Quincy Oakman, B/M DOB/03-27-79, proceeded to drive from the gas station to his home in Sterling Hills where he then had his wife drive him to the hospital. Oakman is expected to make a full recovery.

This was an isolated incident that was a result of a drug deal.

Detectives are actively working to identify and apprehend the shooting suspect.

Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to call the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office at 352-754-6830.
