Pasco-Hernando State College’s Rao Musunuru, M.D. Art Gallery will exhibit CUBA: The Natural Beauty, presented by nationally acclaimed nature photographer Clyde Butcher from January 9 through February 22, 2019. An opening reception, sponsored by the PHSC Student Government Association, will be held on Wednesday, January 9, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Rao Musunuru, M.D. Art Gallery, on PHSC West Campus in New Port Richey, 10230 Ridge Road.
Clyde Butcher books will be available for sale on Wednesday, January 9, from 5:30 p.m.–6 p.m. preceding a formal presentation from 6–7 p.m., followed by a book signing from 7–7:30 p.m., located in the PHSC Performing Arts Center on West Campus (Butcher will not be present for the opening reception).
CUBA: The Natural Beauty, transcends political boundaries and challenges us to work together to protect natural places across the globe. Butcher, often touted as the next Ansel Adams, captures epic monumental photographs of precious landscapes and peaceful sanctuaries throughout the world. The silver gelatin hand processing of each photograph hallmarks his work. “It’s important for an artist to have passion for the medium they use. But they also should have passion for what they are trying to express. Without passion, there is no heart or soul in the work,” said Butcher.
Art exhibits are free and open to the public. The Rao Musunuru, M.D. Art Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Fridays 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. PHSC will be closed for winter break from December 13 through January 1.
