On 12-21-18, Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to 3345 Southwest Boulevard, Spring Hill, in reference to multiple batteries that had just occurred at the residence.
The deputy observed three individuals who had sustained various injuries from the suspects. The victims identified the suspects as Angel Jose Mariani, H/M DOB/01-30-1995, and his sister, Monique Mariani, H/F DOB/09-30-1997.
The suspects’ grandfather, who was one of the victims, said Angel, Monique and their sister, Madelyn Mariani had been living in a tent in the backyard of his residence.
Throughout the day the grandfather had given his two granddaughters some money. When Angel found out, he approached his grandfather and demanded money, too. When his grandfather refused, witnesses say Angel began punching his grandfather multiple times. The grandfather was able to retreat into a nearby shed.
A short time later Angel, along with his sister, Monique, approached their grandmother in an attempt to confront their grandfather who was still inside the shed. When the grandmother asked them to leave, Angel and Monique began punching and kicking their grandmother. Another individual attempted to intervene and was also battered by Angel.
Angel then made his way to the shed where he was able to force his way inside. Angel proceeded to vandalize various items inside the shed.
Angel, Monique, and Madelyn fled the residence prior to law enforcement’s arrival.
A deputy was able to locate all three suspects at the intersection of Parlow Avenue and Toucan Trail in Spring Hill.
After giving a false name to deputies, Angel fled the area on foot. The two sisters remained and were arrested at the scene.
Both the K-9 Unit and the Air Unit were deployed to assist in locating Angel.
A short time later the Air Unit located Angel hiding in some nearby shrubs. Following a short foot chase, Angel was tased when he continued to be combative with deputies attempting to arrest him. Once in custody, Angel continued to make threats of violence toward all deputies present. He was then transported along with his sisters to the Hernando County Detention Center.
