In the early morning hours on 02-13-19, deputies conducting proactive patrols in the area of Lake Drive in the Royal Highlands, an area where illegal drug activity is frequently conducted, observed Adam Hamilton riding his bicycle with no lights on it.
As riding a bicycle in the dark, with no lights, is an infraction, deputies attempted a traffic stop in the area of Westview Court and Country Road. Hamilton fled on his bicycle into a wooded lot at the intersection. As deputies followed close behind Hamilton, Hamilton fell off his bicycle in the wooded lot. After falling off the bicycle, Hamilton attempted to run from the deputies. The deputies caught Hamilton after a very short foot pursuit, as Hamilton fell down three times as he was attempting to flee. As Hamilton was being taken into custody, deputies located a baggie of methamphetamine.
He was charged with Resisting Arrest w/o Violence and Possession of Methamphetamine. His bond was set at $3,000. Hernando County deputies have been dealing with Hamilton for many years. He has been tied to crimes such as Burglary, Battery, Grand Theft, Uttering Forged Check, etc.
Sheriff Al Nienhuis said, “These proactive drug arrests assure that, at least while Hamilton is in jail, he will not be able to victimize any innocent Hernando County residents.”
