Update #2
Just after 7:30 p.m., the Barricaded Subject, identified as Peter McAfee W/M DOB/10-28-1978, entered the doorway (main entry/exit) of the apartment he had been barricaded in. McAfee did this previously in the evening but retreated back into the apartment. Deputies, using a PA system, continued their attempts to persuade McAfee to exit the apartment with his hands in the air.
Deputies quickly observed that McAfee had a handgun tucked in his waistband. Deputies continually ordered McAfee to drop the weapon and surrender. McAfee refused to do so.
McAfee exited the doorway and pointed the handgun at deputies before retreating back to the doorway.
Deputy J. Weeks and K-9 Meck were waiting nearby. Weeks deployed K-9 Meck to take McAfee into custody. K-9 Meck immediately made contact with McAfee, taking him to the ground.
McAfee was treated on scene for dog bites, then transported to a local trauma center for additional medical attention.
Once medically cleared, Peter McAfee will be charged as follows:
Burglary (Initial Call)
Domestic Battery (Initial Call)
Criminal Mischief – Felony (Initial Call)
Aggravated Assault – 2 Counts (Initial Call)
Aggravated Assault on LEO – 2 counts.
When deputies made contact with McAfee, he was armed with one handgun, one butcher knife, and one other knife.
We are pleased to report that no deputies or innocent citizens were injured during this incident.
