On Friday, April 26 the Veterans HEAT Factory is holding a free Lunch and Learn from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program will take place at the Joni Industries Building – 16230 Aviation Loop Drive. Chick-fil-A will provide a free lunch.
The acronym HEAT stands for Honoring, Empowering, Assisting and Training. The not- for-profit organization works with veterans and first responders who are dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The Veterans HEAT Factory helps them unlock their full potential by inspiring personal growth, encouraging community integration, and supporting their ability to re-enter the workforce and achieve lifelong success.
The speaker for the Lunch and Learn presentation will be Walter Santiago, who served nine years in the Army. He served multiple tours as a Special Operator for Operations Command. Santiago is experienced in helping veterans with PTSD utilizing Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). The therapy aids in the effective relief of PTSD in a minimal amount of sessions by changing the way traumatic experiences are stored. ART is used in numerous U.S. Army hospitals and is expected to expand rapidly through the armed services.
Gus Guadagnino, founder and chairman of The Veterans’ HEAT Factory, stated, “This presentation is for anyone that has PTSD, is living with someone with PTSD or anyone that is interested in learning more about PTSD.”
There is no cost to attend the Lunch and Learn. However, seating is limited, so those who wish to attend must pre-register by calling 352-251-7015.
