The Second annual Brooksville Blueberry Festival was held this weekend, it was a smashing success. The Florida Blueberry festival left Brooksville in 2017 and many residents felt that they had lost something. John Lee of Coney Island and a group of dedicated people set out and created a local Blueberry Festival to replace the festival that had left Brooksville.
In 2018, the first Brooksville Blueberry Festival was held. The first Brooksville Blueberry Festival was a more intimate affair than the Florida Blueberry Festival the year before. It also had more of a hometown feel with a dunk tank manned by prominent local people.
This year they also had a dunk tank, a kids play area, many different types of food, beer, vendors of all types, a butterfly feeding tent, live music, and blueberries. This festival helps many local organizations raise money to support their good works. It also draws people from outside the area which brings money into the county.
We would like to congratulate all people involved with the Blueberry Festival. It is wonderful that they managed to create a new event to replace the Florida Blueberry Festival when it decided to relocate out of the area. Through your hard work Brooksville has an event that we can all be proud of.
