On Saturday May 25, 2019 a Shred-a-thon was held at the Towne Square Mall to help people and businesses get rid of their unwanted financial documents. This helps to prevent identity theft and other types of financial crimes.
A mobile shredding truck from Shred Quick was on hand to shred unwanted documents. The papers were put into a garbage can and lifted into the truck.
Donations at the event were accepted for outfitting the new rescue boat for Hernando Beach Fire Station. There were several firefighters on hand including Jim Billotte Division Chief Operations, Brian Burback Captain, and the crew of the Hernando Beach Engine. Towne Square Mall presented a $500 check to the fire department to start off the event. Another $242 was raised from public donations during the event and Towne Square Mall matched the $242, bringing the total donations to $1000.
If you missed the event there will be more shredding events held in Hernando County, so stay tuned. Campbell and Company will be hosting a shred event in early June.
