On Saturday, May 5, 2018, the Little Lady Cafe was destroyed by an electrical fire. It reopened on July 30, 2018. The community came together to help Rory Steele and the Little Lady Cafe recover from the disaster. The inside of the restaurant was gutted and restored.
When the Little Lady Cafe had just re-opened they received a stone painted with their iconic front porch. The artist dropped the stone and cracked it as it was being sealed. The artist glued it back together and wrote, “My thoughts were it was like the Little Lady Cafe being restored by the glue, that is your determination.” Rory treasures the gift.
Since they re-opened they have held a number of community events including Networking At Noon, Business And Breakfast, and a Saturday Morning Market. These events are helping to revitalize downtown Brooksville by building a community of business owners as well as bringing more people downtown.
On Saturday, June 1, 2019, they held Team Nichols All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast Event. A portion of the morning sales went to help a little girl named Baylor and her family in their quest for a miracle.
The Little Lady Cafe is located between the County Courthouse and water tower in downtown Brooksville. Their address is 13 S Brooksville Ave.
They are open 7 days a week from 6 am to 2:30 pm serving breakfast and lunch items. They serve home-style southern food along with wraps, burgers, sandwiches, and salads.
The Little Lady Cafe is a timeless hometown cafe. It would be easy to imagine it existing exactly as it is 70 years ago.
