Calling it the Brooksville shuffle, we shall shortly be seeing some shifting and changing going on in trendy Downtown Brooksville, particularly as it relates to the business Transformed Treasures, owned by Mike and Diana Burmann.

Transformed Treasures, an antique, vintage and distressed home decor market with multiple vendors under one roof, is relocating from their current address at 410 E. Liberty Street to another property in Brooksville. In fact, they’re relocating a very short distance to the property right next door which was formerly home to the Peace Tree Trading Post.

“We had to move as the owners of the Tilted Teacup Tearoom and Boutique bought our building about 3 months ago,” said Diana Burmann. “They’re going to be renovating this building so they can move from their present address at 103, E. Saxon Avenue,”she said.

That presented the Burmanns a challenge to find a new location for their business of selling their antiques, vintage, repurposed, shabby chic, and distressed home furnishings.

“The building that is presently Peace Tree Trading Post in the Log Cabin next door to us sadly went out of business, so we contacted the owners and now we are going to be reopening in that location, she said.

Diana believes it was by Divine appointment that she was able to stay in the precise area where her talent in repurposing furniture is already known and in great demand.

Members of the Chamber of Commerce, Transformed Treasures will be holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their re-grand opening on Friday, Sept. 6. and a soft opening is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 27. The last day of business at their present location will be Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019.  Then on Sunday and Monday the pair will be making the transition next door.

If you love antique, French Provincial, vintage or mid-century pieces, you’ll discover these one-of-a-kind, repurposed and distressed items at her store, along with a plethora of art and collectibles.

“Each piece means something different to each person so we always have a large selection of the most beautiful pieces we can find,” she said.
Burmann uses paint and brushes to transform and repurpose furniture from old into new.
“Distressing adds depth and texture to a piece,” she said.  “And it gives furniture instant character.”
Transformed Treasures will be taking a few of their vendors along with them. They include Stacy and George Hethorn from Cypress House Creations. Cypress House Creations produce One of a Kind signs for every room in your house and seasonal signs, as well as everything from hand design placemats to furniture. Among their creations is a mosaic of the Last Supper made out of several types of exotic woods from all over the world. They also make maps of the United States with each state carved from different types of wood.

Another popular vendor is John Strong Antiques. John Strong specializes in antiques at very affordable prices.

Melissa Barrett from Fairy Tales and Seashells will also be included in the move. Melissa specializes in the popular shabby chic farmhouse look and offers everything from  angels, book stacks, signs, custom made jewelry, prayer beads, ornaments and farmhouse everything.

‘Of course, we’ll still have our collections of antiques, vintage, repurposed, distress, shabby chic and farmhouse items as well as antique toys, Boyds Bears, and one-of-a-kind greeting cards for every occasion,”said Diana. “Our home furnishings are very unique; custom-made and one-of-a-kind too and our customers are now bringing us their own furniture for that custom updated look,” she said.
