Chancellor for Innovation Eric Hall, Ed.D., Florida Department of Education, will present a keynote address at the inaugural Workforce Stakeholders’ Engagement Summit at Pasco-Hernando State College. Organized for Hernando County educators, business owners and other stakeholders, the event will be held at the Rao Musunuru, M.D. Conference Center at PHSC’s Spring Hill Campus on September 26 from 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
The Chancellor’s priorities include distinguishing Florida’s workforce education as among the best in the nation—ensuring that students secure the skills needed to meet the demands of Florida employers. A product of Pasco County schools and the son of Pasco County and Hernando county teachers, Hall attended PHSC and earned advanced degrees in educational leadership and policy from the University of South Florida.
Frank Morsani, retired chairman of Automotive Investments, philanthropist and champion of the arts and education will also provide remarks. A Hernando County resident and former Chairman of the Board of the United States Chamber of Commerce, Morsani was an automotive dealer in four states and owned and operated 15 dealerships in Tampa Bay.
Presenters and panelists will discuss building stronger, more nimble workforce programs to meet local business and industry needs. Designed to be interactive, the program will reserve time for presenters to field participants’ questions.
“The Summit will connect Hernando business leaders and educators to review current workforce training and skill sets required by their industries,” said Timothy L. Beard, Ph.D., PHSC president. “With manufacturing and business models evolving with new technologies, it is imperative that stakeholders share resources and collaborate more closely.”
Hall applauded PHSC’s efforts to engage stakeholders to more closely collaborate and share resources—to benefit students, employers and Hernando County.
“This is a positive step toward meaningful change,” said Hall. “As we work collaboratively to update workforce training, we will fill employer positions with qualified, local talent, stimulate economic growth and enhance the quality of life for residents of our Florida communities. We are confident that this meeting will generate ideas and actions that can influence future workforce training initiatives statewide.”
The Workforce Stakeholders’ Engagement Summit is sponsored by the Greater Hernando Chamber of Commerce, Career Source Pasco Hernando, and Chick-fil-A, Hernando County.
Seating is limited to 120 participants. The $25 registration fee covers a continental breakfast, lunch and a signed hard copy edition of Morsani’s biography, To Be Frank: Building the American Dream in Business and Life. Proceeds for the event will establish a new PHSC scholarship for Hernando County residents and employees of Hernando-based businesses.
