The Whimsical Wind Chime Tree

Just off the bicycle trail that runs along the Suncoast ExpressWay there is the Wind Chime Tree. It is a live oak that has been decorated with a large number of wind chimes. The tree is located just south of the Anderson Snow Park. The tree has almost magical properties now that it is enhanced with wind chimes.

This tree was the result of individuals adding to their surroundings. In Paris, there is a famous bridge, Pont des Arts, on which lovers place padlocks. The idea is that that the lovers publicly profess their love by adding a padlock to the bridge and it creates a unique attraction by locking their locks on to the bridge. Paris is not the only place where this happens.  Locks have been placed on bridges in many cities including Budapest and Rome.

The wind chime tree has the ability to bring a smile to one’s face. It brings out the child wonderment that us adults still carry with us. Someone or many someones added wind chimes to this tree for others to enjoy.
