VFW members Sue Preuss and Lisa Spencer provided the hot cocoa and coffee, welcoming and warming the visitors of the Hernando Beach Fire Rescue (HCFR 6) on Saturday, November 30, at the Community Firehouse Fall Festival & Lighting Ceremony.
Local artists filled the bays usually occupied by fire engines and equipment while those vehicles were toured by local kids getting an insider peek into the daily life of a Hernando Beach Firefighter Paramedic.
Announcers and dignitaries included Hernando Beach Property Owners’ Association (HBPOA) President Kathy Frase, and Hernando County Commissioners John Allocco and Jeff Holcomb.
Talented artists Carol Dentici, Vi Ferguson, Diane Ziemski, Mary Akers and Melani Rieberman and friends, Abby McLaughlin, Kurt Hanassen, Toni Baldwin, Dean Napp, Lyles Cranford, Kayla O’Donnell, Leslie Tomlinson, Joe and Nancy Wachs and Barbara Timm collectively displayed hundreds of unique pieces both for sale and for the silent auction.
Frase credited the Hospitality Committee for making the comforts possible – LeeAnn Flood, Nancy and Joe Wachs, Leslie Tomlinson and Diane Ziemski.
The lights and decorations that adorned the HCFR buildings were set up by the Station 6 firefighters, led by Captains Tim LaRoche and Keith Tomlinson and Dillon LaRoche. The firefights also showed off their spectacular ladder truck and boat to the visiting community.
Special thanks to Mary Bong – resident of Dept. of Florida District 21 who presented to our Chief Lorenz and our captains not just an American Flag received from Washington DC but a POW flag as well. Such a wonderful honor for our Fire House and so appreciated.
