Now with the district tournaments around the area coming up, the high school sports scene continues as basketball begins to sit center stage. Below are a few games we think are the matchups to watch for this week in Hernando County for high school basketball on the boys end.

Nature Coast (13-8) at Central (14-6): If you’re looking to take in some good Hernando County prep basketball games this week, you made the right choice to watch. This week starts off with a great match between the Sharks and the Bears, with both teams right now looking to snatch some momentum heading into district play in a couple weeks. Winner of this game definitely gets a boost. Jan. 28 at 7:30pm.

Central (14-6) at Springstead (16-4): Talk about another game with huge implications heading into district play here in a couple weeks. The Bears and Eagles are arguably two of the county’s top basketball teams in the boy’s ranks and now will meet up against each other just before the last week of the regular season. Talk about a huge match and must see. Jan. 31 at 7:30pm

Springstead (16-4) at Zephyrhills (15-4): Best of Hernando County and Best of Pasco County comes to a collision course this week when the Eagles go on the road to face a talented Zephyrhills bunch. Springstead is loaded with good matchups down the stretch of the season and this game versus the Bulldogs is no different. The winner of this matchup carries some weight when it comes to the top club in the North Suncoast. Jan. 29 at 7pm.

Wesley Chapel Cypress Creek (7-13) at Nature Coast (13-8): The Sharks are aiming to get themselves right back on track and a good way other than beating Central would be upending Wesley Chapel Cypress Creek. Nature Coast is another team that has a tough slate of contests to end the season. Jan. 30 at 7:30pm.
