The Hernando County Solid Waste and Recycling Department announces the removal of recycling drop off boxes at the Walmart located at 13300 Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville on February 28, 2020. The levels of contamination and trash being placed on the ground outside of these containers have been extremely high, making the site difficult to maintain.
Residents with residential trash service through Republic Services also have curbside recycling collection included in their service at no additional cost. Visit www.hernandopa-fl.us/utilweb or call (352) 540-6457 to sign up for curbside recycling service.
Residents without trash service and commercial businesses are encouraged to use one of the additional recycling drop off locations in the County listed below:
– East Hernando Convenience Center – 33070 Cortez Boulevard in Ridge Manor
– Hernando County Government Center – 234 E. Jefferson Street in Brooksville
– Northwest Solid Waste & Recycling Facility (Main Landfill) – 14450 Landfill Road in Brooksville
– West Hernando Convenience Center – 2525 Osowaw Boulevard in Spring Hill
Additionally, Hernando County will no longer accept glass in its recycling program due to ongoing industry changes. This is an ongoing trend in the State of Florida. Glass can be disposed of with your household garbage.
Contact the Hernando County Solid Waste and Recycling Department at (352) 754-4112 for additional information on these recycling program changes.
