Don’t ‘tase me, HCSO!

CHARGES: RESIST OFFICER WITH VIOLENCE (X2), BATTERY ON LEO/OTHER OFFICER

Arrested at: 04/08/2020  00:46  770 S MAIN ST, BROOKSVILLE, FL, 34601

Arrest Summary: On 04/08/2020 at approximately at approximately 00:30 hours, I was dispatched to 770 S Main Street, Apartment #34, Brooksville Florida, in reference to a wanted person.

While in-route, the Hernando County Communications Center (Dispatch) advised deputies that a subject by the name of George Gracie (B/M 02124/1989) had arrived back at the aforementioned address. The defendant Is a suspect from a domestic battery case that occurred on 04/07/20 at 01 :04 hours (Case #2020-10852). The Hernando County  Communication Center (Teletype) advised that the defendant had a possible warrant (#2020MM951) out of Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, signed by the honorable Judge Donald Scaglione. 

Deputy D. Hadsell and I then arrived at the aforementioned address, and I was able to positively identify the defendant, George Gracie, while Deputy D. H. and I were in full patrol uniform and arrived in marked patrol vehicle. 

Deputy D. Hadsell and I then made contact with the defendant. The defendant instantly started to become irate with deputies being at the residence. Deputy D. H. and I then went to go place the defendant into custody and the defendant then shoved me,  Deputy M. B., with an open hand in the right shoulder. The defendant was violently throwing his arms and hands around to prevent Deputy D. H. and I from placing him in handcuffs, and ignoring all verbal  commands to stop resisting. I then went to attempt to place handcuffs on the defendant again, where I then observed Deputy D. H. draw his agency issued Taser. At this point, the defendant began to comply, once he observed Deputy D. H. pointing his Taser at him. Eventually, Deputy D. H. and I were able to place handcuffs on the defendant, taking him into custody.

Deputy D. H. sustained minor bruises and a minor abrasion on his right forearm during the altercation. 

Contact was then made with a witness. The witness advised that she observed the deputies on scene telling the defendant put his hands behind his back and stop resisting, at which the defendant broke loose. The witness stated that after a struggle, deputies were able to place the defendant into custody. Contact was then made with another witness, Albert. The witness advised that he also observed deputies attempting to take the defendant into custody and the defendant started to fight against the deputies. The witness stated that the deputies on scene were able to place handcuffs. 

The defendant was then transported to the Hernando County Detention Center. Once at the Detention Center, the defendant was advised of his court date on 05/08/2020 at 09:00 hours in court room E. The defendant was then given a $15,000.00 bond per the bond schedule.
