The Glen Lakes Garden Club has been busy planting seeds of kindness by sponsoring a food drive in their Glen Lakes Community to help those less fortunate during this time of crisis.
The Glen Lakes residents were asked to support the Community Food Drive with non perishable items and monetary donations.
Although the morning of the food drive brought pouring rain, volunteers from the Glen Lakes Garden Club and Glen Lakes Veterans and Friends bundled up to accept the food donations handed to them by residents as they drove their cars past the drop off point. Over 3000 pounds of food was collected and packed into seven vehicles for distribution to The Salvation Army, People Helping People and St. Vincent de Paul food pantries. In addition, $2100 in cash was donated by Glen Lakes residents. Checks in the amount of $700 were also delivered to each charity to aid in purchasing other items for the food pantries. All of the charities were overwhelmed by the generosity of this community and the volunteers who endured the soaking rain to collect and deliver the donations.
