Consider this: Sea and sand in the morning, snow in the afternoon?
It may be sunny all the year-round in Florida but those who miss that nostalgic feeling for snow and chilly scenes can now get into the winter spirit at a brand new one-of-a-kind alpine snow park.
More than a year in the planning and making, Snowcat Ridge Alpine Snow Park officially opens its slopes to the public on Nov. 20, 2020, in Pasco County. The park is located next to TreeHoppers on St. Joe Road in Darby, about 9 miles west of Dade City.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Snowcat Ridge Alpine Snow Park to Pasco County when it opens to the public,” said County Commissioner Ronald Oakley. “Attractions like Snowcat Ridge will draw visitors from all over the country to the Dade City area. This first-of-its-kind attraction will help bring new businesses, new talent, and generate a major economic impact for our area.”
Snowcat Ridge is an alpine snow park featuring a 60-foot-tall and 400-foot-long real snow-covered tubing hill with a magic carpet lift to whisk guests and their snow tubes to the top of the hill, an Alpine Village, and a ten thousand square foot snow dome where guests can build snowmen out of real snow. Guests can ride in a single, tandem, or 6-person family tube to slide down the snow-covered slope.
“Our team has been working very hard over the last few years to bring our alpine snow park to reality, says Benjamin Nagengast, CEO of Snowcat Ridge.
“Snowcat Ridge will be unlike anything anyone has seen before in the Sunshine State and we are incredibly excited to unveil our vision for the new alpine snow park.”
In the snow dome, guests can build snowmen or snow castles out of real snow. The snow dome will also include a child-sized snow hill for younger guests.
“Some folks think it’s impossible to experience snow tubing and the joy of snow in Florida, but our team is all about making the impossible, possible,” says Mark Bremer, Creative Director of Snowcat Ridge. “The new alpine snow park will be unique in all regards and our team is thrilled to be launching very soon.”
Along with tubing and skating, families and friends can enjoy hot and cold beverages, beer, wine, and food. Cozy up to a campfire and roast s’mores in a viewing area perfect for taking in the nightly Snowy Slopes music and light show. Additionally, Snowcat Ridge will be hosting an assortment of vendors offering craft goods throughout the holiday season.
