And just like that, there was one.
On Friday night (Nov. 13) all five of Hernando County High Schools played to keep their season alive, but only one would walk away preparing to continue on in the season. Weeki Wachee suffered a tough loss at the hands of Zephyrhills (26-0); Central lost to Anclote (42-6); Springstead came up short to the Countryside (21-7); Nature Coast ultimately ended their season against Bishop Moore (45-28); Hernando, however, would dominate the field against the Tarpon Springs Spongers. The Spongers did have a recovered fumble that they would return for a 93-yard touchdown. The Leopards, both offense and defense, were more than the Spongers could handle. The Leopards ended their night with a victory of 55-14 over the Sponges and will advance to play against the Jones Tigers out of Orlando this Friday night.
