Hernando County- Local residents and visitors are invited to join friends, colleagues, and

neighbors in losing 10 pounds in 10 weeks and embracing 10 healthy habits in the 2021 Great

Hernando Weight Loss &Wellness Challenge. The event runs from Saturday, January 9 through Saturday, March 20. The 2021 Challenge comes with a few changes from previous years, namely an added emphasis on overall wellness. Drawings will be held throughout the ten weeks for participants who engage in the weekly Healthy Habit “mini” challenges which include themes such as exercise, mindfulness, healthy food choices, and adequate sleep.

Another change is the ability for participants to register and track progress as an individual rather than in teams. Registration remains $10 per person and now can be completed online at

Finally, all Challengers who have lost at least 10 pounds at the conclusion of the Challenge will be entered in a drawing to win one of ten $100 gift cards. A safe and confidential drive-thru initial and final weigh-in will be held to document starting and ending weights. Challengers who do not wish to participate in the drive-thru weigh-ins are still eligible for the weekly Healthy Habit “mini” challenge prizes but will not qualify for the $100 gift card drawings at the conclusion of the event.
