A 76-year-old female from Brooksville, driving a sedan was traveling northbound on US-41 in the left turn lane, approaching the yellow flashing turn arrow at Powell Road. A second vehicle, an SUV driven by a 37-year-old female from Brooksville with 4 passengers was traveling southbound on US-41 in the center lane, approaching the solid green traffic signal at Powell Road. At the intersection, the sedan turned left into the path of the SUV. As a result, the front of the SUV collided with the front right of the sedan. Post-impact, the sedan rotated to a final rest within the intersection; the SUV was redirected southwest and collided with a utility pole before coming to final rest. The driver of the sedan suffered serious injuries. as well as a 7-year old passenger. A 32-year-old passenger, a 6-year-old passenger, and a 9-year-old passenger all suffered minor injuries. All involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts.
