The private Spring Hill residential community of Timber Pines has joined the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office in brightening the holidays of children in need with vibrant rays of sunshine–via a charitable donation of more than $20,000. And, organizers will tell you, celebrating this achievement was a walk in the park.
According to Patti Yost, Director of Member Services, Timber Pines Community Association has donated $22,500 to the 2020 Hernando County Shop With A Cop Program.
“Timber Pines Members, Staff and Community Sponsors once again opened their hearts to provide for Hernando County families in need for the holiday season,” Yost wrote. “The Timber Pines 14th Annual Holiday Walk took place on November 6th. After raising over $22,500, the event was celebrated by participating in a 2-mile walk around the community.”
Joining the walk was Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis, the HCSO COPPS Unit and Mounted Patrol.
According to www.hernandosheriff.org, “The COPPS Unit successfully conducts the Shop-with-a-Cop program each year at Christmas. Through partnerships with community groups and the Hernando County School District, the COPPS Unit receives and utilizes donations to provide Christmas presents to families and children in need.” Over the last 14 years, Timber Pines has raised more than $150,000 for this program.
And according to Yost, Timber Pines’ involvement in Shop with a Cop is truly a labor of love.
“Everyone shared in the joy of raising the funds…and a wonderful morning was enjoyed by all,” she wrote.
Congratulations, Timber Pines. And to them and all of our readers at the Hernando Sun, may your Christmas be filled with Sunshine!
