On June 25, 2019, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) directed staff to review the local specialty license categories to determine if there were any categories that should be eliminated from the local contractor license requirement.
The BOCC Meeting on December 15, 2020 was the first of two public hearings to approve the elimination of five license requirements, all of which are covered by other licensing agencies throughout the state. All commissioners voted unanimously to approve elimination of local contractor licenses for Elevator Specialty Electrical Contractor (1 current license held in the county) and Steel Erection Contractor which is held by 2 contractors in the county.
Other license requirements eliminated by this ordinance are: Lighting Maintenance Specialty Electrical Contractor, Natural Gas Specialty Contractor, and Residential Solar Water Heating Contractor. No local licenses were issued for these specialties.
The ordinance will go into effect after the second public hearing, which has not yet been announced.
