The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that took place in South Brooksville last week.
According to HCSO Deputy Public Information Officer (PIO), Michael Terry, at around 9 p.m. on Jan. 18, deputies responded to a report that someone had discharged a firearm in public in the area of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Twigg St. in South Brooksville. The incident took place at a large gathering, he said.
Upon arrival, deputies found that two people had sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Both were transported to area hospitals where they were treated and released.
Deputies were unable to locate the person responsible for discharging the firearm at the scene.
