More than 1,000 homebound Florida residents will receive COVID-19 under a new program announced by Gov. Ron DeSantis earlier this week.
During a Feb. 1 press conference, DeSantis unveiled a plan to set aside 1,500 doses of the COVID-19 vaccination to be administered to those who cannot leave their homes.
“You have people who are not able to drive to a drive-through site, are not able to go to a grocery store or even to a hospital.,” DeSantis said. “We want to look out for them, too.”
DeSantis did not provide details about how the plan will be carried out; who will administer the vaccinations, and how many shut-ins will eventually receive vaccinations under the program.
No one from the home health care service providers community was available for comment.
