State Representative Anthony Sabatini (R-Howie-in-the-Hills) has announced that he will challenge Daniel Webster (R-FL) for Florida’s 11th Congressional District seat in 2020. Meanwhile, the incumbent Webster said that he was surprised by the challenge.
Sabatini who was initially elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2018 and re-elected in 2020, officially announced that he would seek the 11th District seat on March 8
“Now, more than ever, we need conservative fighters to step up and defend the values that make America great,” Sabatini said in a written statement. “ I’m running for Congress to put America first and represent the people of Florida with the tenacity we need to stand up to the radical left and Republicans in Name Only (RINO) Republicans.”
Webster who initially entered congress in 2011 said that Sabatini informed him of the Congressional run, but that he did not intend to challenge him.
In his own written statement Webster said that while he was surprised by the challenge, he did not take his reelection for granted.
“I work hard every day to serve my constituents and campaign hard every election,” Webster’s statement said. “I am committed to continuing to work hard to block the Democrats’ liberal agenda and earn the support of my constituents once again in November 2022.”
