District 4 County Commissioner Jeff Holcomb has announced his intention to run for the District 35 seat the Florida House of Representatives now held by Rep. Blaise Ingoglia (R-Spring Hill). According to Florida statute, Igoglia will have reached the term limit for his State House seat in 2022.
A military veteran, Holcomb was initially elected to the District 4 County Commissioner post in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. His term expires in 2022.
If elected, Holcomb said his legislative priorities include maintaining Florida’s business-friendly climate, and making sure military veterans get access to the resources they need.
“I want government in every way possible to stay out of the way of small business,” Holcomb said. “Secondly, I want to keep Florida a great state for Veterans to move to get educated, find good jobs, get good healthcare and retire.”
Igoglia said that he supports Holcomb’s decision to seek his legislative post.
“Jeff is a good guy – he works hard and knows how to create jobs,” he said. “I look forward to seeing him in the legislature.”
Meanwhile, Ingoglia said he has not yet decided what he will do after he “terms out” of his House post.
“I still have a passion to serve,” he said. “So we will see what’s next.”
