It’s going to be three teams in three years for former Nature Coast running back Matt Breida, as the tailback signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills last week. Breida spent his first three years as apart of the San Francisco 49ers before leaving via a trade to the Miami Dolphins.
Breida became a part of the Dolphins’ running back by committee and the results proved to bring his game down. Breida averaged a career-low 4.3 yards a carry after seeing many more touches in San Francisco. The former Georgia Southern star had his best season in 2018 when he rushed for 814 yards.
Before being replaced by Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman in San Francisco, Breida was one of the team’s leading running backs. Injuries and fumbling issues became Breida’s sore spot with 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, as the tailback rushed for 623 yards on 123 carries and scored one touchdown. Breida also played a part in the 49ers’ special teams, as the former Georgia Southern star had a lot of snaps in Super Bowl LIV via kickoffs and punting situations.
