Girls District 9/Class 3A Championship

Eight teams participated in the Girls District 9 / Class 3A finals but it was Lecanto who walked away with a new title for the year: “District 9 Champs.” The Lady Panthers earned a total of 17 points in the tournament, beating out Land O Lakes, the runner-up, who finished with a total of 12 points. Springstead came in third with 10, but earned the highest score in singles 1. Jolie Miller and Aszti Chadsynski won the #1 and #2 seed Individual District Titles.

Miller and Chadsynski took first place in singles #1 and #2 respectively in the Gulf Coast 8 Championship tournament.  Chadsynski went undefeated this season.

Having finished first in doubles 1, Lecanto sent their doubles team Tahiri and Karanam to the State Tournament. Springstead had the same opportunity in singles, where Jolie Miller represented the Eagles at states.  She ended up reaching the state semi-final match in #1 Singles against Frankie Hendricks of Seminole High School. Jolie came out strong, winning the first set, (6-2) but unfortunately lost the next three sets (6-7), (4-6), (6-10).

Boys District 9/Class 3A Championship

Springstead was the clear winner in the boys District finals as they finished with a total of 14 points overall. The runner-up spot was less apparent with Lecanto and Mitchell tying for second. The two teams both finished with 8 points and faced off in a tie-breaker. In Regionals, the Springstead boys tennis team lost to Seminole so they didn’t make it to states to compete as a team.

However, Oswaldo Cherubini won #1 seed singles and automatically advanced to States. Oswaldo and Rasznu Chadzynski also won #1 seed doubles and automatically advanced to States.

GC8 CONFERENCE GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Lecanto High School is the varsity tennis conference champion. 18 team points was enough for the Lady Panthers to win the tournament as they edged out second place Springstead, who finished with a total of 15.
