A new mural adorns the north side of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Building on Hernando Beach. On a beautiful Saturday morning, members of United Community Hernando Beach and several dignitaries came to dedicate the artistry of Diane Liptak and Steve Krou. Krou and Liptak are also known for other murals in the area, including the doors of Fire Station 6 on Hernando Beach.
The image is that of the ship that the Flotilla uses for training Coast Guard Officers.
In addition to the dedication, the United Community Hernando Beach cut a red ribbon provided by The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce. The dedication ceremony then continued with members of the Color Guard placing the flag, followed by thoughts and history accounts given by members of Flotilla 15-8, the Coast Guard Auxiliary that primarily occupies the building.
United Community Hernando Beach President Kathleen Frase gave praise to several local businesses that have been instrumental in many recent improvements to the Coast Guard Building, including HB Lawn Maintenance, Chuck Henderson Plumbing, Over the Top Lawn and Garden Service, Rich Gray Drywall, Sterling Roofing, Showcase Painting, Jason Air, Gulfstream Custom Homes, Fire Station 6 and the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
