Music and dance, drama and design. This summer at Live Oak Theatre in Brooksville, a creative camp program will inspire students to explore, develop and display their artistic leanings and talents.
This is our TWELFTH ANNUAL SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM!” said Vince Vanni, Live Oak spokesperson and camp teacher. “We have consistently provided performing arts camps each summer since 2010.
The Live Oak Improv camp will be conducted June 21st-25th from 5pm-8pm. This camp, intended for ages 8 through adult, is an acting camp focused on the skill of improvisation. Tuition is $75 per student.
“One of the best parts of summer camp is seeing how our teachers are able to come alongside students to help them hone their craft!” explained Kyle Marra, Live Oak director and dramatic coach.
Live Oak Theatre Camp will be celebrated June 28th-July 2nd from 10am-4pm, for boys and girls ages 7 through 18. Tuition is $150 per student. Topics may include vocal technique and song interpretation, costume and set design, movement to music, auditioning skills, acting skills such as characterization, improv technique, and much more.
Dance camp will take place July 19th-22nd from 10am-2 pm. Tuition is $75 per student.
“Our facility’s layout gives our teachers a variety of options when it comes to planning lessons,” said Marra.
“We have a hardwood ballroom floor fit for dancing, an indoor stage for acting classes, and our outdoor stage for experiencing what performing was like in Shakespeare’s day.”
Tech & Stage Design camp will be conducted July 19th-22nd from 10am-4pm. Students will be taught by Chris Rees and Josh Saliba. This camp will require a minimum number of students to operate.
The camp season will culminate in grand fashion with a two week Shrek Jr. Production Camp August 2nd-6th and 9th-13th, with performances set to take place August 12-15th. Auditions may be conducted beforehand. Young people ages 8-18 may participate. Tuition is $300 per student and includes two performance tickets.
